A recent post from my pallie Gilligan at his super cool blog Retrospace turned me on to this. I had no clue that Sammy Davis Jr. ever did any sort of advertising for Alka Seltzer. It shows that there is plenty about the Rat Pack that I don't know about. That particular post inspired me to do a post here on my blog. Here are three Christmas ads, plus a commercial for Alka Seltzer featuring Sammy as Santa. I hope you like them.
Gil's post was inspired by a post at A Christmas Yuleblog. It's such a cool holiday blog. It definitely helps put me in the Christmas spirit. I hope you'll check out both these blogs. They've got some stuff I didn't post. Enjoy!
P.S. For all those pallies looking for holiday gifts related to Dean Martin and the Rat Pack, check out the widget I set up on the top right side of my page. I've put some items in there that I really love and highly recommend. If you purchase from Amazon itself, I get a cut of it. Thanks. Cheers!
Fantastic stuff Keith
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave. Glad you liked it.
ReplyDeleteHey pallie Keith, very interestin' stuff...
ReplyDeleteHey pallie DMP. Thanks. Yeah, it certainly is.
ReplyDeleteI guess he must have really needed the money.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm sure he did.
ReplyDeleteThese are great! Oh and the widget kicks ass! Now where's my debit card....
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't need money? Even Michael Jordan did underwear and Ball Park Frank commercials.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, thanks for the shout out here at the Dino Lounge. This is such a fun place to visit... I think it's got a little of Dino's mojo working for it.
Hey Rev. Glad you enjoyed these. I thought it was cool when I saw it. Glad you like the widget. I thought it was something neat to put up here. Hopefully I'll make a little dough off of it, plus it gives folks a chance to see some products related to this blog that I recommend.
ReplyDeleteHey Gilligan. I don't blame Sammy for doing these. Even if you are making lots of money elsewhere, celebs will do endorsements. Michael Jordan has got to be one of the champs of that. Plus we do know that Sammy really needed the money, so I don't fault him for doing any sort of commercials.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoy my blog. I really appreciate that. I have fun doing it, so it's great to see that others like visiting it. I will enjoy your blog. Cheers!
Thanks for the mention of the yuleblog!
ReplyDeleteCapt
Hello Capt. You are definitely very welcome. I love that blog. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteCan I say that if Sammy showed up in a sleigh with Alka Seltzer I guess I would have to take it. You know with all this acid reflux I would have to use it anyways, but it would be cooler him giving it to me.
ReplyDeleteHey Rowan. Thanks for the comments. Great hearing from you. I would just love to have seen a Christmas movie with Sammy playing Santa. That would have been awesome. I'm sure you could use the Alka Seltzer. Sammy Claus is lookin' out for ya. :-)
