Happy Birthday To Joey Bishop!
Happy Birthday to Joey Bishop. He was born at this date in 1918 in the Bronx. Joey was, of course a member of the Rat Pack. He played in movies with his pallies like Ocean's Eleven (1960) and Sergeants 3 (1962). Joey starred in his own sitcom called The Joey Bishop Show, which ran for four seasons from 1961 to 1965. He guest hosted The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson quite a few times. Joey would even host his own talk show called The Joey Bishop Show (1967-1969). His sidekick on that show was Regis Philbin. Joey made many appearances on various talk shows, game shows & sitcoms throughout the years. He continued to act into the 1990's, playing in the film Betsy's Wedding from 1990. He would be the last member of the Rat Pack to pass away. Joey died on October 17, 2007 in California. He was 89. If he had lived to this birthday, he would be 91. I raise a toast to Joey Bishop. While he's not my favorite member of the Rat Pack, Joey had a part to play and he played it well. I salute him. Cheers!
While I was never a big fan of Joey Bishop, I'd still like to wish him a fantastic birthday too. I remember when he died that it brought back up the memories of why I loved the Rat Pack so much.
ReplyDeleteHey pallie Keith, Joey is kinda likes the most dead pan of the Dinotroop...often wondered how he gots into the pack...
ReplyDeleteHey Phoebe. Thanks for the comments. I know what you mean. I'm sure he still appreciates the birthday wishes. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHey pallie DMP. Thanks for the comments. I know what you mean. I think his personality became part of the act. Know what I mean. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look like Joey gets much love around these parts. :-)
ReplyDeleteDidn't you post a video before of him on his show with Regis and Sammy?
It doesn't look that way. lol
ReplyDeleteYeah, I posted a clip of them in the past. Just look in the labels section for it.
Wow, my grandfather is going to be 91 on March 1st. I read a book on the Rat Pack and it said that Joey and Dean were the least intimidated by Frank. The author speculated that it was because Joey and Dean came from larger families.

Hey Robert. An early Happy Birthday to your grandfather. That's great news. Thanks for the comments. I didn't know that about Dean and Joey. Well, I think I had read it before about Dean, but not Joey. I appreciate the info. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHappy bday! his sarcasm and dead pan face always made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteHey Mel. Thanks. He was so perfect at what he did best.
