Jerry Lewis Chats Up Batman & Robin

One thing I always loved about the campy 1960's series Batman was that you never knew who was going to open the window as Batman and Robin climbed up the side of a building. Check out this clip of Jerry Lewis making an appearance on the show. Enjoy!

  1. Man, I loved that show as a kid. They were reruns of course, but I watched it everyday. In my Batman underoos no less.

  4. Did you ever hear the Paul Is Dead Beatles myth - Batman issue 222 played around with the rumor and had a guest appearance from Beatle lookalikes.. I featured it as one of my earliest blog posts here

  5. Hey Rev. Thanks for the comments. That's how it was with me. I saw these episodes in reruns, but I absolutely loved them. I had the Batman underoos too. Cheers!

  6. Hey Mirko. Thanks for the comments. I always loved the lines that Batman would spout on. They always sounded so serious. Jerry does look young there. Cheers!

  8. Hey Dave. I didn't know that Batman issue 222 had any sort of reference to the the Paul is dead myth. I'll have to check out that post of yours. Thanks. Cheers!

  9. Great clip. You never knew who was going to open that window. When I first watched this show, I had no clue who most of these people were. Now it's fun to go back and see some of my favorite stars of that era making cameos on Batman.

  11. Haven't seen the Brave and The Bold show yet Keith- but have got a ton of issues from 70s onwards - the Green Lantern movie is the one I'm buzzing for

  12. Hey Phoebe. Thanks. Yeah, that's how I was too. I saw this show as a kid so I didn't always know those guest stars either. It was my way of learning about them. I would end up asking my parents or grandparents about them.

  13. Hey pallie DMP. Thanks for the comments. I really need to read Jerry's book. I've grown to like him a lot better over the last couple of years. I did enjoy his cameo. I do wish Dino had done one. I wonder why not. 'Cause we know Sammy did one as well up here. Cheers!

  14. Hey Dave. The show is really good. It's definitely got that retro vibe to it in many ways. I like it a lot. I'm going to read over this issue. It looks great. That's so cool that you have so many issues. I did collect comics at one time. I lost them all when a hurricane hit here in the mid-90's. I lost so many things then.

  15. My dad still loves that show...he used to have my brother and I watch it, so this clip definitely brought me back to those good memories :)

My school is just a nondenominational Christian one.. but a lot of kids there are so sheltered and ridiculous I feel like I belong to a cult sometimes! And the worst part is that I go to the "most liberal" Christian college out there (my parents couldn't deal with the judgmental attitudes of the conservatives).
I know what you mean about marriage...I mean if it happens, it happens, but I think it's sad that people define themselves through someone else! Thanks for your comment - it was nice to read the opinions/experiences of someone else (especially cause I was worried about coming off too bitchy in my post :)

  17. Wow that was a pretty quick cameo I always enjoy how no one is startled to open their window and see someone climbing up the building, Batman or not. I have to wonder who was more surprised here, Batman or Jerry?

  18. Hey Allison. Thanks for the comments. I still watch the show myself. I love it even as an adult.

I grew up as a Free Will Baptist. That's a pretty conservative Protestant denomination. I remember people who went off to Bible college and got married either there or right after graduating. That was part of the reason they went to a college like that. It made me curious as to what sort of college you were attended. I guess it doesn't matter whether it's liberal or conservative, there are going to be people like that. Plus there are lots of non-religious people who are ready to jump into marriage for better or worse. Your post was great. I enjoyed it. I actually worried about my comments. I knew they were long. I wasn't sure if you would get upset or not.

  19. Hey Scott. Thanks for the comments. Glad you enjoyed it. Somehow I never remembered this. Plus I may not have known who he was when I first saw this.

  20. Hey ~k, Thanks for the comments. Nice hearing from you. It is funny that nobody ever freaks out over somebody climbing up their building. I wonder the same thing. Cheers!
