Elvis Presley make sure to be in attendance for the opening night of Nancy Sinatra's Vegas show on August 29, 1969. Elvis and Nancy had starred in the racing movie Speedway the previous year. Here's some pictures of Elvis with Frank Sinatra. Nancy joins them in the first picture, while Fred Astaire chats with them in the last picture.
Both Sinatra and Elvis do my favorite versions of 'My Way'--although ol' Blue Eyes pretty much owns the tune. Very cool to see them together.
ReplyDeleteHey Rev. I do love both versions of that song. Yeah, Sinatra does own it though. Nobody does it quite like Frank.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'll check it out.
ReplyDeleteNancy and Elvis were great friends...and she has always been extremely kind and respectful towards his memory. She's a classy and terrific lady.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeremy. It was great hearing from you. Whenever I've have heard Nancy mention Elvis, she is very warm and positive about him.
ReplyDeleteJust love Nancy Sinatra! She actually is talented and not just riding the coat tails of her dad...great photos!
ReplyDeleteLove that pic. How does Elvis always look taller than everyone else in a picture with him. The 68-71 era is probably my fave Elvis period
ReplyDeleteHave you checked the duet of Frank and Elvis doing Love Me Tender/Witchcraft - I'm sure it'll be on youtube..
Very cool candid photos of these celebs. Unbelievable, almost 40 years ago!
ReplyDeleteMy wife would kill to have me look like Elvis, (without the burns). did you ever see the clip from when Elvis got out of the Army and was on Sinatra's show. It was very awkward for both of them, but it looks like they warmed to each other by this time.

Hey pallie Keith, this post gives me a real Dinourge to see if I can find some Dinopixs of our Dino and the Elvis...only one I know of this the birthday cake scene...
ReplyDeleteHey Veronica. I agree. I like Nancy. She's talented. She didn't make it just because of who her dad is.
ReplyDeleteHey Dave. Thanks for the comments. Elvis is the King after all. I love those pics. I like that era in the career of Elvis. I'll have to check out that tune.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jim. Glad you liked them. These entertainers are still cool 40 years later.
ReplyDeleteHey Robert. Thanks for the comments. I think a lot of women would kill for their men to look like the King. I did see clips from that show. I agree with you on that.
ReplyDeleteHey pallie DMP. Thanks for the comments. I know what you mean. I think that's the only one I've ever seen. Hopefully there are more out there.
ReplyDeletelove the rings elvis has on in d last foto :o]
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm going to love these pictures. These are great. I adore Nancy. I did enjoy seeing her and Elvis together in Speedway. They were good friends.
ReplyDeleteHey Terence. Me too. Elvis did have some cool style.
ReplyDeleteThanks Phoebe. I knew you would since you're such a big fan of Nancy. I thought these pics were really cool. It's awesome to see them all together.

ReplyDeleteelvis and frank 2 real kings!! I think that modern celebs will never achive that kind of coolness, no more elvis or frank or marylin..and maybe it's better!
ReplyDeleteAll of these retro, vintage pics you post? J'adore!
ReplyDeletethanks for the comment, dear!
ReplyDeleteahh. frank sinatra AND elvis?! now, that's a match made in heaven, no?

Those are great pictures Keith! The King and Ol' Blue Eyes sure did have a mutual respect for each other
ReplyDeleteVery cool photos. Reminds me of that old Marvel comic Team-Up, with the wild assortment of disparate celebrities getting together. Perhaps there were some tasty cocktails for everyone.
ReplyDeleteYou always have the greatest pictures! =]
ReplyDeleteBisous,
La C.
Incredible photos, Elvis was so gorgeous and Frank so very handsome. It's so sweet to see Fred Astaire there too. Such iconic figures.
ReplyDeleteThanks Carlotta. I appreciate the comments. We just don't have celebs like this anymore. This was a time when stars were really stars.
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika. I'm so glad you liked them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gabrielle. It's great to see the King of Rock 'n' Roll and the Chairman of the Board together. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHey JB. Glad you liked these. Both of these men are amazing.
ReplyDeleteHey Scott. Thanks for the comments. I love that. Yeah, that's what it reminds me of too. I'm sure there were some tasty cocktails around there somewhere. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThanks La C. I appreciate that. I am to please.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gabbi. I really liked seeing all these greats together. They sure don't make them like that anymore.
ReplyDeleteI attended the party as the Las Vegas correspondent for Associated Press at the time. My date, who had just arrived in Las Vegas, was blown away. There were so many celebrities I remember Sergio Mendez of Brazil 66 having to sit on the floor!
ReplyDeleteHey Michael. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. That's awesome to hear. Wow. I bet it was such a cool time. Have a great weekend. Cheers!
