I'm not sure when or where this was. I love this picture of Sammy and Frank. I thought it was a great picture of two friends sharing a tender moment together. I've always loved seeing pictures of the Rat Packers in more private moments. I love promo pictures, but it's neat to see the guys as actual friends. It really reveals that these guys were more than just an act. Their friendship with each other was authentic and not just for the stage or screen.
Such a nice photograph.
ReplyDeleteI love how it sort of shows Frank as being the tough guy and Sammy being the cool and confident man who's ok with showing a little tenderness to his friends.
Thank you so much for sharing!
Hey Gabbi. Thanks. I love the way you described the photo. I hadn't thought of it like that before, but you hit the nail right on the head. I'm glad you liked it. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteIt show's true friendship...That one was alway's there for the other
ReplyDeleteFabulous photo Keith! It's great to see another side of them, and nice to know they were comfortable enough to let others see it. Hope you are well! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLooks like a serious moment and does show that these guys were close friends. Cool!
ReplyDeleteHey Gingey. I agree. These guys were great friends and it shows.
ReplyDeleteHey Veronica. Thanks. I know what you mean. They aren't scared of showing how they felt about each other. They weren't scared either of others seeing it.
ReplyDeleteHey Jim. Thanks. Yeah, it does show that they were truly friends with one another.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my fave superstar team up photo's Keith - Ali and Elvis
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave. I'll check it out.

ReplyDeleteThanks Veronica. I agree with ya.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful photo of two loving friends.
ReplyDeleteHey pallie Keith, this pix musta been before frankie left the Sam high and dry at JFK's inaugurational bash....remember it was our Dino who hung tight with the Sam man...
ReplyDeleteThanks Phoebe. Glad you liked it.
ReplyDeleteHey pallie DMP. I'm not really sure when this picture was taken. It would be neat to know though. It surprised me to see a photo like this. I would have imagined it to be Dino and Sammy together like this.
ReplyDeleteThat is great. How do photographers capture moments like this?

Hey Carrie. So true. This is definitely a bromantic moment.
ReplyDeleteAmazing photograph. I love how it showcases authenticity and camaraderie in such a cutthroat industry. :)
ReplyDeleteThats a great photo. I love candid moments caught on film as well.
ReplyDeleteHope all is ok, Keith!
They were tough but tender.
ReplyDeleteHey Erika. So true. These two were in a competitive industry. Sure they might have been friends, but they would also have been rivals. They didn't let that get in the way of how they felt about each other.
ReplyDeleteHey Liz. Thanks. Glad you liked this photo. I'm doing well. I hope you are too. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHey Scott. Great way to describe them.

ReplyDeleteHi Keith, What a great photo! I told you in the past you give us great pictures often decades not seen and this is such a great photo! When you look more in depth at the picture you can see that this was a VERY serious moment for the two stars! Something was definitely wrong with Frank, just looking at his droopy bodylange and holding to his life saver, the whiskey in his hand! You can, even now, feel the fear oozing from Frank! But what is more revealing is the way they are looking directly into each others eyes as friends and the fact that Sammy is holding Frank with his left hand at his neck tells us that Sammy is the stronger one giving Frank some advice probably of "not giving up, you can do it" whatever the challange is that Frank was facing at that time. Sammy is the rock for Frank to lean on!
ReplyDeleteThanks Terence.
ReplyDeleteHey Mirko. Thanks so much. Those are such wonderful comments. I went back and looked the photo over. I think you hit the nail right on the head. I definitely see what you mean. I'm glad you enjoy the photos I post here. It's really nice to find photos like this that show us such a private moment between two great friends.
ReplyDeleteyou're right...this is indeed such a tender and honest moment. I feel like I'm eavesdropping on something really personal. great find, as always.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chessa. Glad you liked it. Yeah, I feel like we are sneaking in and catching a very private moment that the cameras weren't meant to see.
ReplyDeleteAll of those Life photos are really great. I went thru Dean Martin's gallery there about two weeks ago and I love how it shows the other side of The Rat Pack members; they are not only amazing entertainers but human beigns as well. Thanks for this photo, I'll put it in my collection ;-)
ReplyDeleteHey Kristyna. Thanks. Glad you liked it. Yeah, I love those Life photos. We get to see a different side of these personalities. It's not all this promo stuff that's usually around.
ReplyDeleteThese two were brothers best friends always there for each other. Frank did a lot for Sammy during his lifetime even helping him to start his career really taking off by paying him appropriately for his talents, giving him good advice to be his own person and get his own style and telling him to get off drugs later in life.Frank also stood up when Sammy couldn't stay in the same hotels due to his skin colour.
ReplyDeleteHey Mel. Thanks for those wonderful comments. I totally agree with you. These guys were more than just friends. They were brothers. I admire all the things Frank did in support of Sammy. It makes me love Frank even more. It would be nice to have friends like that. Take care.
