Music In The Key Of Bond
I love James Bond movies. My favorite 007 of all time is Sean Connery. One of the things I love about those Bond films is the incredible theme songs. I love seeing the opening credits roll for each of the movies. Here are clips of those from all six of the official Bond films that starred Connery as our favorite British secret agent. So which is your favorite?
Dr. No - 1962
From Russia With Love - 1963
Goldfinger - 1964
Thunderball - 1965
You Only Live Twice - 1967
Diamonds Are Forever - 1971
P.S. Is anybody here on Twitter? If so, what do you think about it? Do you enjoy it? Is it hard to get going? I've been considering joining it, but I wanted to get some feedback. Thanks.
Even though I've seen all of these in the past, I plan to still watch them. I do love the music of the James Bond franchise.
ReplyDeleteThanks Phoebe. The theme songs are one of my favorite things from the Bond flicks. Do you have a favorite song?
ReplyDeleteI love the instrumental theme to From Russia With Love but have to say Nancy Sinatra is great on You Only Live Twice.
ReplyDeleteBut who can top Shirley Bassey's Goldfinger? no one. :)
I have twitter (Drake57) don't use it much but some people seem to love it.
Hey Drake. Thanks. It's hard for me to pick a favorite. I love all of these. I go back and forth. Shirley Bassey is definitely the Queen. I've been thinking about getting on Twitter. I see so many people up there.
ReplyDeleteDo you even have to ask? Obviously my favorite is Nancy Sinatra's You Only Live Twice. :-)
ReplyDeleteHey Phoebe. Oh yeah. I didn't think about that. lol
ReplyDeleteThe opening credits are my favorite part! Great post dear Keith. :)
ReplyDeleteObsessed with Twitter!! That's how I keep up with all my bloggy buds - love it!
ReplyDeleteand if you do - tweet me up!
XOXO
Marvelous post! The intro songs have always been one of my favourite aspects of Bond movies, too (and I'm with you on Sean Connery being the best bond ever, though I did really enjoy Pierce and more recently Daniel as well ;D).
ReplyDeleteI'm on Twitter, but truthfully I don't use it nearly as often (frequently) as many I know do. Feel free to call me verbose, but something about the puny character limit just doesn't jive with my love of writing. If you do join though, be sure to post about it, so I can follow you :)
Have a fantastic Friday, Keith!
♥ Jessica
Oh Sir Connery! :-)
ReplyDeleteXoXo
I think the best visually are From Russia With love, and Thunderball.
ReplyDeleteThat does not sound like the original version of Thunderball from the soundtrack on that clip, however.
Sean Connery is the kiddie, when it comes to Bond - although Daniel Craig and Timothy Dalton are/were both excellent..
ReplyDeleteBut my fave openings are probably the Roger Moore ones Live and Let Die, Golden Gun and Spy Who Loved Me
Hey Gabbi. Thanks. I'm glad you're a fan of the opening credits too.
ReplyDeleteHey Midtown. Thanks. I'm glad to hear that you love Twitter so much. I'll definitely tweet you up if I get up there.
ReplyDeleteHey Jessica. Thanks. Glad to see you love the opening credits. Plus that's cool that you're such a fan of Connery. Oh yeah. I like all the Bonds we've had. There are none I don't like.
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely let people know here if I do get on Twitter. I probably will join it. It will most likely be having the Labor Day holiday weekend coming up.
Thanks Janet. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHey Thomas. Thanks. Those are actually his two films that I love the most. I know what you mean about that clip. It took me forever to find clips for some of those movies. I had to settle for what I found.
ReplyDeleteHey Dave. Thanks. Connery will always be my favorite. Moore is actually the first Bond I ever saw. He's the favorite of both my siblings. I really like all the Bond actors. Have a great weekend. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThis is a real treat, Keith. Love those theme songs, which are a large part of the Bond magic. Hope to see you on Twitter.
ReplyDeleteHey Steve. Thanks. Cool that you're also a fan of the Bond music. I do hope to get on Twitter soon.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Connery made a good Bond. I am on Twitter @cooldads. It is pretty easy to set up and use, you might like to see what it is all about. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI love me some James Bond (not only because we share the same first name and b/c I was referenced to him countless times in my lifetime).
ReplyDeleteI have twitter. I think it's awesome and it's a great tool to drive more traffic to your blogs. If Oprah, the 3 boys from "Full House", Michael Bloomberg and Slash can have one, so can you. Plus there's a service that automatically tweets (update) anytime you have a blog post. Now tell me that isn't great......
Got to show this post to hubby, he LOVES james bond.
ReplyDeleteHey Jim. Thanks. Glad to see you're a Connery fan too. That's cool about Twitter. I definitely do think I'm going to give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteHey JFK. That's really cool. My sister has always said she wants to name her son James.
ReplyDeleteI do wanna get set up on Twitter. I had heard that it was good for driving traffic to your blog. That would be cool. It doe seem like everybody out there is on Twitter.
Thanks Housewife. That's really cool that your hubby digs 007.
ReplyDeleteDear Keith!
ReplyDeleteHow are you??? I hope you've spend a good week! Thanks so much for your sweet comments :-) They mean very much to me! Sorry for being slowly in visiting your blog in last week. I haven't been very well and so I've missed many things.
I LOOOOVE James Bond - but only Sean Connery. I wasn't very keen on Roger Moore or Timothy Dalton or Pierce Brosnan - and whatever the heck Daniel Craig.
Sean Connery WAS and will always be the perfect and only James Bond to me.
My favorite James Bond (apart from SC, hehe) songs are "For your eyes only", "License to kill", "The living daylights" (I don't know why, it's actually not very good, but I like it :) ), "Goldfinger" and "Thunderball" by the Tiger, of course!
Yep, I'm on Twitter as well - it was a little bit tough in the beginning but it came out as great fun! HEY, please join!!! :-D
Wishing you a winderful weekend!!
xoxo sofie

Hey Sofie,
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting. It was great to hear from you. I'm sorry you weren't feeling well. I hope you are much better now.
I had a tough week. Work was fairly hard, plus I got a flat tire the other night. I'm glad the weekend is almost here. I need a chance to rest and relax some.
Sean Connery is my favorite, but I have liked the other actors as well. None of them though will ever equal Connery in my opinion though.
That's cool that you are also on Twitter. I do think I'll probably join it soon.
I enjoy your blog. Not sure if you've ever checked out my other blog or not. It's called Sugar & Spice. It's devoted to the beautiful women of the 60's and 70's. You might like it.
Enjoy your weekend. Cheers!
Oh Sean Connery is my favorite Bond!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love all these intros, especially Goldfinger...
xoxox,
CC
P.S. Not on the Twitter bandwagon just yet, but am also considering it!
Hey Carrie. Thanks. Cool to see you're a Connery fan too. Goldfinger is a classic. I hope you decide to sign up on Twitter too. I'm pretty sure I will. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThunderball, hands down!!! I'm insane about Bond, especially the themes (I'm a musician).
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like the idea of a covers feature on my blog, I can't wait till next week!
Never have I seen a James Bond movie before in my life. Now I want to! :)
ReplyDeleteHey E.K. Thanks. I love Thunderball. The movie is awesome, plus it's got such a cool theme song. I love Tom Jones so that helps.
ReplyDeleteI do think that's a cool new feature at your blog. I look forward to seeing your next post in it. Cheers!
Hey Erika. Girl, you definitely need to see some Bond movies. :-) I hope you'll get a chance to.
ReplyDeleteGoldfinger is by far my favourite of the Bonds, I remember reading the book when I was younger after watching the film for the first time. And Connery was definitely the best Bond!! Hope you're having a great day :)
ReplyDeleteHey Dapper. Thanks. I love the book and movie of Goldfinger. Definitely a classic. Glad to see you're such a fan of it and Connery. My day is going well so far. I hope the same for you. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThe beginning is my fav part of Bond Movies!
ReplyDeleteHey Kristin. They do always knock in out of the ballpark with the beginning.
ReplyDeleteI love the title of this! I love the new JB song "The World is not enough" ahhh loves it. Yes, I am on Twitter. I like it, but you have to use in correctly. Lots of people use it as a glorified facebook status or as a place to have mini (yet very public) convo's. I personally think Twitter is about sharing information. So i mostly use twitter to share links
ReplyDeleteThe MAN !!!
ReplyDeleteHey Clare. Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. I love that Bond song. I do plan to post more songs in the future. I appreciate the info about Twitter. I do really wanna get up there. I do hope that I'll figure out how to use it the right way. Enjoy your weekend. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThanks Richard.
ReplyDeleteI love Sean.....so so sexy! I love Diamonds are Forever...that song makes me so happy. I am on Twitter and at first I definitely wasn't into it...now I can't live without it....I don't tell everyone what I'm doing all the time, but I like to post my blog posts and cool links for people to check out. Come on over!!
ReplyDeleteHey Beauty. Thanks for commenting. Glad to see you're a Connery fan. I love Diamonds Are Forever. That's cool about Twitter. I'm finding out that so many people are over there. I definitely want to use it to help promote my blog and get some more readers here. Enjoy your weekend. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteConnery is my favorite too.
ReplyDeletei'll say they're all great but Thunderball is probably my favorite theme. it was the 1st one i ever saw.
great post as usual bro.
Diamonds are forever... timeless!
ReplyDeleteDon't bother joining Twitter! I don't even know I signed up to be honest ;D
Hey Wiec. Thanks. Glad to see you're a Connery fan. Thunderball is a great song and movie. I do plan to post clips from the rest of the Bond films as time goes on. For Your Eyes Only was my first Bond film. The first Bond I ever saw was actually Roger Moore and not Sean Connery.
ReplyDeleteHey Alexia. Thanks. I love Diamonds Are Forever. Sorry about Twitter.
ReplyDeleteLove this post! And I don't think anything compares to the original 007. I think the original theme tune of the first movie is just a classic, but I've always loved Goldfinger as well.
ReplyDeleteNot on Twitter and don't plan on joining anytime soon. I already have my hands full with the blog, work and life in general... don't think I could handle another distraction! Hope you're having a great weekend so far!
Hi Keith,
ReplyDeleteI could never get tired of watching James Bond movies!
I must agree that Sean Connery has charisma and it shows in all of his movies!
P.S thanks for your comment :)
Have a wonderful weekend!!

I love james bond movies. Sean Connery is also my favorite, but the new Craig Daniel is a close second :-)
ReplyDeletexoxoxo keep well Keith!
Hey Haute. Thanks for commenting. Cool to see you're a fan of Bond. Yeah, there's nothing quite like classic Bond. I love the theme music for the franchise.
ReplyDeleteI can understand about the time issue. I have my life and work, plus I do two blogs, I'm on MySpace and Facebook. I probably don't need to add anything else in, but I probably will though. lol
Hey Anna. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. That's so cool that you're a fan of the Bond movies. They are all really cool. I hope you are having a great weekend so far. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHey Veronica. Thanks for commenting. Cool to see you're a Connery fan. I do like Craig. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment!
ReplyDelete;)
Hello M, Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSean Connery was absolutely the best Bond! Thanks for all of your comments :D
ReplyDeleteThank you kind sir for your toast to my Father.x
ReplyDeleteThunderball is my fave song but my fave title sequence is from a non Connery one - OHMSS - I love the way we get snippets from the previous films in there. Oh and Twitter's easy enough when you get used to it.
ReplyDeleteWaow :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the graphics animations are great!
Very interesting.
xx
Sean Connery is an amazing Talent :o]
ReplyDeleteHave a gr8 sunday :o]
I watched the James Bond movies years ago, with my dad. I never thought of watching them again but now that you mentioned it... I might do! I've seen the ones with Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig more recently but I can't say I really enjoyed those...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely comment! Have a nice week!
C.Elizabeth
yess, are wonderfull!!
ReplyDeleteHey Wheel. You are very welcome. Thanks for commenting. Glad to see you're a Connery fan.
ReplyDeleteHey Gingey. You are very welcome. Your dad sounds like a great man.
Hey Archavist. Thanks for commenting. I love the song for Thunderball. OHMSS does have a great one. I plan to rewatch that film next weekend. Thanks for your feedback on Twitter.
ReplyDeleteHey L. Thanks. I'm so glad you enjoyed this post.
ReplyDeleteHey Terence. Thanks. Hope you've had a nice Sunday.
Hey C. Elizabeth. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it. I prefer classic Bond. I do hope you get the chance to go back and watch those films. I watched so many of them with my dad when I was growing up.
ReplyDeleteGOLDFINGER...er...pardon me...I mean...GOLDFINGAAAAAHHHHH!
ReplyDeleteShirly Bassey was my favorite Bond crooner of all time! I even did a post about her on FA'SHOE'NISTA!
Wow, what memories this brings back. My dad was a staunch Bond fan and Sean is my all time favorite.
Thanks for this post. Great nostalgia!
Hey Cheryl Lynn. Thanks for commenting. Glad to see you're a fan of Bond. I love Shirley. She did the best Bond theme songs. She's such an icon. There's no 007 like Connery. I watched these movies with my dad when I was growing up.
ReplyDeleteHi, I know I'm a year behind everyone else commenting on this but this music is timeless, so here we go...
ReplyDeleteOf these six great Bondsongs I can't decide which one's the best of "Goldfinger" or "Diamonds are forever", they both are outstanding.
For me I think Shirley Bassey should've sing on all of the Bondmovies.
As for the opening titles, I think the music "On her majestys secret service" is the best. That's also my favorite Bondmovie of them all. I just wish that Connery had starred in it...
