Dean Martin & Frank Sinatra: Nothing But A Good Time!

Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra

This photo is from a show that Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra did at the Resorts International Hotel in Atlantic City on August 24, 1980. It's fantastic to see that even in their older years these hip cats still knew how to to have a good time. Hope you all have a cool and swingin' weekend. Cheers!

  1. What a job!! Gosh... can you really call that work?

I don't think those two (along with Sammy) ever lost their comedic timing and spark. I'm really not sure if there will ever be a duo (or threesome) like them ever again.

  2. My dad have a collection of Frank Sinatra's photos, albums and other memorabilias. Thanks for sharing this cool pic. I'll show this to him when I visit him this weekend.

  3. Fab shot! You have to love that it looks like they had the workings for a mini-bar on stage with them - that just screams Rat Pack to me :)

Wishing you a fantastic weekend, too!!!

  6. I saw Frank and Dean and Sammy in Seattle at the start of their revival tour. This was the tour that Dean Martin did not finish. There were feminist groups around the arena protesting the fact that Sinatra and Co. used to call women broads and that they drank a lot. I am sure the boys got a good laugh out of that. Dean was his usual charming and suave self. It was easy to tell that he was not enjoying himself to the full and I was not surprised to hear later that all he really wanted to do during the tour was to " go home". Sammy Davis Jr. was the real all round talent and he sung, quipped and danced his way around the stage.
However: As soon as Frank Sinatra came on stage to the opening bars of 'where or when' everyone paid attention to the master and all else was forgotten. Although Seattle was really just a warm up and rehearsal for the rest of the tour the Sinatra magic was there for all to see. He put everyone in the shade.

  13. Hey Dad. I wish my job was like that.

I agree with you. I think these two and Sammy always had that cool magic that made them so special. I don't think we'll see it again.

  18. Hey James. Wow. Thanks for sharing that. That is so cool. One of my main regrets in life is that I never got to see these guys in concert. I would have loved that. I often wonder how they would deal living in such a PC World. It bad then, but even worse now. It's a shame how things turned out with Dino. Sammy could definitely do it all. Sinatra is the Chairman of the Board after all.

  44. True entertainers inb every sense of the word - I would have loved to have seen one of their shows! My Mum and Dad were lucky enough to go see a nightclub show with Sammy Davis Jnr in Sydney when he toured here in the '60s. That sounded pretty darn good too!

  45. Hey Fashion. That is so true. I hope I have that much fun when I'm their age.

  46. Hey Sam. Thanks. I know what you mean. I would love to have seen these guys perform at least once. That would have been a dream come true. That's so awesome about your parents. Sammy is another person I wish I could have seen. It would have been fantastic to have see Dino, Frankie & Sammy all together at once.
