Yay Marilyn! I believe this was taken at the birthday party the cast and crew of Something's Got to Give gave her. Sadly, it was followed closely by her death.
Hey Tikimama. Thanks for the comments. Nice hearing from you. I had no clue when or where this was, so I appreciate the feedback on it. Thanks. It was sad about her passing.
Hey pallie Keith, as we are 'bout to finish Dinoamore Dinomonth, likes what a great way to show our Dino amorin' Miss Marilyn, they both looks likes they havin' a lovin' time....
Hey pallie DMP. Thanks for the comments. Yeah, this is a great picture as we close out this month. I hadn't even thought about that. Both of them look like they are having a great time. Cheers!
THIS IS TRULY AWESOME. I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THIS PHOTO. I THINK THIS MAY HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN THE LAST TIME DINO SAW MARILYN. I'VE BEEN BUSY PACKING & MOVING PALLIES...SORRY I HAVEN'T BEEN AROUND MUCH IN THE LAST WEEK. CHEERS!
Hey pallie Terri. Thanks for the comments. I love this pic myself. It's great seeing these two together. It's so sad that she passed away soon after. She's such an icon. Good luck with the move. I totally understand. Take care. Cheers1
As I recall, when the director fired and replaced Marilyn for not showing up on time for rehearsals for Something's Got to Give, Dean Martin walked away too -- in support of Marilyn.
I suspect that he knew that she was having serious emotional problems.
He very nearly got into contract trouble, too, but the trouble blew over.
One thing about Dean Martin: he stood by his friends and colleagues, no matter the personal and financial cost to himself.
Hey Always. Thanks for the comments. It was great hearing from you. I'm planning to post some pictures of Marilyn up here in a couple of weeks and talk a little about what happened with that movie. I do like that Dino stood up for his friends. He wasn't worried about the consequences for himself. He believed in supporting his friends. I think that's great about him. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend. Cheers!
I don't think she was happy in the pic. To me it looks like she is stretching her head backwards away from Dean. Maybe there was some bad blood on the set of Somethings Got to Give
Shellena-- Marilyn had requested Dean appear in the film and he agreed to do the film only because of Marilyn. They meet long before and had joked about doing a film together. By all accounts Dean and her had a great relationship.
When Marilyn was fired, it was Dean who refused to do Somethings Gotta Give. She was hired back and was to also get the opportunity to do more film with Dean-- What A Way to Go and Kiss Me Stupid were two Dean films that she was in talks to do.
Also Marilyn was at Cal-Nev, Frank's casino the last weekend of July-- Dean and Frank was there as well. From most accounts- Dean had saw Marilyn that weekend.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog. I really appreciate it. I'll return the favor at your blog. If you would like to exchange links with me, then please feel free to let me know. Have a great day.
