It's time for another one of my favorite album covers. This is That's Life by Frank Sinatra. The album was released in 1966 if I remember correctly. I love the title track. It's one of my favorite Sinatra tunes. This album in and of itself is a mixed bag. Some songs are better than others. The problem isn't Sinatra. You can't really go wrong with his voice. Any fault I have is more with the arrangement on this album. For Sinatra completists, I'm sure you would want to have a copy of it in your collection. Most others would be better satisfied with other Sinatra albums. While it's not one of the best albums by Sinatra, I'm a big fan of the cover. The purpose of posts like this is to focus on the album cover and not necessarily the music contained within. I love the artistic rendering of Sinatra here. This is such a cool image of Ol' Blue Eyes. I hope you like it. Cheers!
The title track is one of my all time favorite songs ever. Late 60's is actually my favorite Sinatra era.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I bought an old Sammy Davis Jr LP album... "As long as she needs me" 1963. When I see one of the Rat Pack's albums in the Secondhand store i buy them.
ReplyDeleteHey Rev. Thanks for the comments. I love "That's Life." It's one of my favorite Sinatra songs. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHey Sid. Thanks for the comments. Good for you. That's awesome. I don't blame you. I buy them too. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHey pallie Keith, the cover is very much a product of it's times...our Dino has one or two much likes this...very very classic...
ReplyDeleteHey pallie DMP. Thanks for the comments. Yeah, I think many of those singers had at least one cover like this. I love those. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThis is kind of random but maybe you would appreciate this..I started watching 'Guess Who's Coming To Dinner' with Katherine Hepburn in it. My mom told me to watch it since I was a kid, it's really good.
ReplyDeleteMy dad loves Sinatra (we're Italian). I grew up on all his music with pasta cooking on Sundays.
Hey there. Thanks for the comments. I love "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner." I watch a lot of movies from the 50's and 60's. I'm glad you liked it. I grew up hearing Sinatra, Dino, etc. when I was a kid. My paternal grandmother is part Italian. That was a big part of my childhood. Glad you grew up hearing that kind of music too. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI like the album cover for this a lot! "That's Life" is such an awesome Sinatra song - I remember listening to my grandfather play it in the car when I was young, so it also has a sense of nostalgia.
ReplyDeleteVery fun! :)
Around 1999, I was scouring town for two (then) out of print Frank albums, "Moonlight Sinatra" and "That's Life." I never did find "That's Life", but I did score the CD to "Moonlight Sinatra" and it remains one of my favorites of his---and I never have heard "That's Life" other than the title track!
ReplyDeleteI love this album even though it's not one of frank's best . The song "that's life" is timeless and perfect for the realities of life. I really love how much fun he has on the song "Winchester cathedral". LOL
ReplyDeleteHey Allison. Thanks for the comments. Glad you enjoy the title song. I love it too. It's one of my favorite Sinatra tunes. I can remember hearing it a lot at my grandparents' house when I was a kid. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHey C.K. Thanks for the comments. That's cool that you could get your hands on "Moonlight Sinatra." I heard "That's Life" years ago. My grandmother had the album. I wish I had her record collection now though. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHey Mel. Thanks for the comments.
ReplyDeleteThis album does have some good songs on it. It's not his best album, but any Sinatra album is a good one. "That's Life" is a perfect song to make one reflect on life. Cheers!
I got this album as an import. It's not my favorite album by him, but it's still a good one. I do love the title track.
ReplyDeletegreat album cover - love that artwork
ReplyDeleteHey Phoebe. Thanks for the comments. I remember you telling me you had this album.
