Yesterday, June 7th, was the 92nd birthday of Dean Martin. Happy Birthday to the King of Cool himself. Dino is definitely the coolest cat to ever live. There's never been anybody quite like him. Dino's one of a kind. I wish I just had a small percentage of the cool and hip swagger that Dino possesses. I would be a happy and content fella then. Dean Martin epitomizes what it means to be cool. He is the very definition of it. While many of us try to be cool, it oozes from Dino naturally. It's always been effortless with him. I raise a toast in honor of my favorite entertainer of all time. Cheers!
I came across this picture by Drew Friedman. I thought it would be great to share it with my pallies here.
There was quite the party this weekend to celebrate Dean Martin's birthday. I was trying to snap a picture of Dino, but he headed off with some hot chick. I can't blame him though. It was his birthday after all.
I did get a pic of Frank Sinatra and some other guy (I have no clue who he is -anybody know?). Frank was tending bar. He made up some pretty tasty drinks for all of us to enjoy.
Dino and so many of his guests entertained us with some wonderful cocktail music. I wish though I could carry a tune. Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong were part of the house band for the night.
P.S. Thanks to all those who offered words of advice to me. I really appreciate it very much. I don't usually talk about my personal life here at my blog, but this has been something deeply on my mind. I'm glad nobody was offended by me talking about such matters. Many of you, either here in comments or by email, offered some great advice.
It was nice to hear about how things have been going with all of you. Some of you had better news than others. I do care about all my friends here. I hope that things will go well for all of you. These are some difficult and worrisome times for us. I wish all of you the best. Take care. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
I think the man with Frank Sinatra is Joe E. Lewis. Frank portrayed him in THE JOKER IS WILD. I read that Lewis, who liked to drink, once said, "I'm as sober as the man next to me. And the man next to me is Dean Martin."
ReplyDeleteHey Carol. Thanks. I appreciate that. I had no clue who it was. I've heard of Joe before. I'll have to look more into him. I love that quote from him. Good one. Cheers!
ReplyDeletehappy birthday to him! :)
ReplyDeleteVery inspirational post! Great!
ReplyDeleteFM~FP~AF
Awesome pics, as usual! 92, huh? I couldn't even imagine what he woulda looked like if he was still alive. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteAnd be wary of loading up with ads~ I had to unsubscribe to 2 blogs recently b/c they were so bogged down with popup & video ads and surveys that they gave my computer seizures. Plus, it makes an otherwise cool-looking blog look like hell. (Just giving you my 2 cents, as a reader and a blogger!)
I heard he had a birthday, I think I saw it on Twitter. More cool photos! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks Wheel. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ana. I appreciate that.
ReplyDeleteHey Kim. Thanks for the comments. I do wonder what he would look like. He was pretty frail and weak when he passed away. I don't plan to add a bunch more ads. I already had the ads between the posts. I just switched it up to also having ads in the sidebar. That actually makes you have less ads between posts. I don't plan on turning the blog into just an advertising magnet.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jim. Glad you liked them. Cheers!

La C.
Hey La C. Yeah, we had quite the blast. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI just love the photos that you find. there just isn't a group of people like them right now...that ship has sailed.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Dino. There was no one quite like you kid. May you rest in peace. No one sounds like Dino and he could never be replaced copied but never another.
ReplyDeleteThat is Joe E.Lewis with Frank Sinatra. Keith Frank made a biopic on the man called "The joker is wild" in 1957 it's quite a good film you should catch it on TCM sometime.
Cheers to Dino!
Hey Chessa. Thanks so much. I try to post really cool photos. They are definitely no guys out there like this anymore. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHey Mel. Thanks for the great comments. It was wonderful to hear from you. I hope you are doing well. It's nice to know now who this man is. I had no clue. I'll have to check out this movie. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI'm late to this thread. **sigh**
ReplyDeleteThere will never be another Dean Martin. I really wish that he were still with us. But he DOES live forever on film and on vinyl.
A toast now to the coolest man who ever walked the earth!
I just bought the Amore cd by Dean it's amazing. I love this new compilation from 2009. The man was one word INCREDIBLE!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind comments Keith. I love coming here and reading your terrific blog!
ReplyDeleteHey Always. Thanks for the comments. Great hearing from you. Dino may not be here in the flesh anymore, but he lives on in our hearts. We can watch his movies and listen to his music all we want. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mel. I'm glad you got Amore. Dino is definitely incredible. I can never get enough of him. Cheers!
