Dean Martin & Frank Sinatra In The Recording Studio

dino-frank

Here's a picture of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra in the recording studio. Both of them look so serious here. I wonder if Frankie was driving Dino up the wall as they were recording. I can only imagine. lol

I always like these studio shots of older recording artists like these guys, or even the Beatles. Rolling Stones and what few I can find of Led Zeppelin and such. I would like to find more studio shots of bands like Yes or Pink Floyd really. It does often show them serious and focused, not wasting precious and expensive studio time.

That is a cool picture. It shows that they took the business of recording music seriously.

However their "live shows" were a bit more loose and fun.

Thanks for posting such a cool picture Pallie Keith.

Hey Bill. Thanks for the comments. I agree with you on that. It's always been cool to see pictures from recording sessions of more classic artists. I don't blame them for being more serious and focused on the work. Studio time is too expensive to be throwing away by acting like a lazy fool. Cheers!

Hey Glenn. Thanks for the comments. I totally understand them being serious in the recording studio. It was expensive so you don't want to throw away money by playing around. This shows that they could be serious when they needed to be. Then they were more playful and carefree in their live shows. Cheers!

What strikes me about a lot of these photos is that everyone wears these nice starched collars and ties even in candid shots from the studio. Fast forward a few years and everyone looks like they belong in a Greyhound bus stations - haggard and unwashed.

I guess that's what attracts me to this time period - that clean shaven, hat and tie wearin', polished shoe, and starched collar zip that's just not around anymore.

Great pictures as usual. Dino Lounge is like a wonderful coffee table book... excuse me, martini bar book sounds more appropriate.

Hello Jack. Thanks for the comments.

Hey Steve. I totally what you mean.

Hey Anthony. Glad you liked it.

Hey Gilligan. Thanks for the comments. I appreciate them.

I know exactly what you mean. These guys could be dressed down to be in the studio. They aren't though. They are dressed better in the studio than most people today dress when they go out on the town. That's one of the main things I love about this era.

Thanks so much for your words. I love the idea of this being like a martini bar book.

Cheers!

When I came across this photo I thought of the inside photo from Usher's "Here I Stand." Usher's such a Sinatra fan. Both photos look identical.

Hey Chi Chi. Thanks for the comments. You are so right about that. I hadn't thought of that before. I remember seeing that Usher was a big fan of Sinatra. I think there are many artists today that are influenced by legends like this.

This is when Frank was conducting Dino on his album. Frank was so talented.

Hey Mel. Thanks for letting me know when this pic was. I definitely believe Frank was very talented.
