Ronald Reagan Roasts Frank Sinatra

Following is a clip from one of The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts. The year is 1977. It features Ronald Reagan, the former Governor of California who had recently sought the Republican nomination for the Presidency. He lost the nomination, however, to President Gerald Ford. Ford would go on to lose the election to Jimmy Carter.

Here Reagan is roasting Frank Sinatra. Part of Reagan's jokes are about if Sinatra was President of the United States. Of course, a few years later Reagan himself would actually be elected the 40th President. Dean Martin introduces Reagan. Plus you can see quite a few other celebrities sitting on the panel and laughing at Reagan's jokes about Ol' Blue Eyes. I hope you enjoy it.

P.S. Besides hearing Dean Martin music at my grandmother's house when I was growing up, these roasts were my first real introduction to Dino.

Hey pallie DMP. Of course, of course. Dino was definitely a master of ceremonies and host for these roasts. Like I mentioned, it one of the first times I ever knew about Dean Martin.

That was a neat clip to see this political season. I won't say which party I belong to. Of course, I love anything dealing with Sinatra. Thank you for posting that.

I try not to discuss politics up here. Some blogs do it, but that isn't the purpose of this blog. I might post stuff with politicians in it, but it's got to have something to do with the Rat Pack.

Hey Anthony. I know what you mean.

They'll never do anything like this again. Comedy Channel has tried but has failed miserably.

Hey Sue. I know what you mean. There just aren't the stars like there once were to do something like this.
