Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra & Bob Hope Golf For Charity

Dean Martin loved to golf. It was definitely one of his passions in life. He played golf all the time. While it was often for just the pure enjoyment of the game, he appeared in many charity events as well. This picture is from a 1962 benefit for the Palm Springs Hospital. Here Dino is between Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra. I'm not sure who the man on the right is.

P.S. I know that the economic crisis has hit people not only here in the United States, but also all around the globe. Quite a few people I know have lost their jobs and are having trouble finding a new one. Some of my online friends have been hit by financial woes too. It really pains me to see so many people I know and care about in such trouble. Watching the news sure doesn't make one feel better. There are so many problems out there and it doesn't often seem like things are getting better.

I work for a cleaning service. It's definitely not a glam or glitzy job at all. It's not really what I want to do with the rest of my life. I'm not passionate about it and I don't enjoy it. A job is a job though. Poor choices in the past got me onto this road. It's been hard to get off of it. My hours and pay both got cut awhile ago. I've been able to get by on what I'm making, but that's all I'm about to do. I'm very thankful to have a job. I count my lucky stars. It would be nice though to make some more money. I want to do more than just get by. Know what I mean.

I've been trying to think of some ways to turn things around. I know that many people are doing the same thing right now. It's definitely not easy on anybody. Any ideas from you guys on ways I could make some extra money whether it be here online or offline? Thanks. I really appreciate it. I didn't really want to bring this up online. I try not to get too personal with my blogs. But I did want to share this with my friends here and see if any of you had any tips. I've been picking my brain like crazy.

How are you guys getting by? Are you making out alright or is the global financial crisis hurting you as well? I hope that everybody here is doing well. I really wish all of you the best. I've rambled on enough about all of this. I hope that you guys didn't mind me mentioning all of this on my blog. I don't want to upset anyone. Any tips you might have that would help me would be well appreciated though. Plus I really want to hear how all of you have been doing. I care about my friends here. Take care. Good luck. I hope all is well with you and yours. Cheers!

I love this photo! these men did so much during their lifetimes together and individually for charity. Also living in palm springs is condusive to the golf lifestyle ;-)

Keith did you hear that Martin Scorcese is making a Sinatra bio-pic movie for the big screen? I wonder who will play him !

The situations the same here in the UK Keith, Ebay used to be a way of rattling up some extra cash - I'm not so sure now though. How about 'Monetizing your blog' and seeing what that does?

Keith, I don't know where you live in the USA, but as far as I'm concerned, (I'm 60), after working for a long while in the IT field, I'm now getting into tourism a bit. People will always come to your wonderful country. There are so many things one can do in tourism.

On the photo: what is Bob Hope holding?

On the economy: things are tough. Looking forward it turning around. I thought the same thing as Planet Mondo, try monetizing your blog, you could try publishing some ads, like Google. Also, try building your traffic, I am just getting started on Twitter, pretty interesting. I liked the eBay idea too, you could look to sell some vintage stuff sitting around.

Hey Wheel. Thanks for the comment. I hope things work out for all of us. Have a great weekend.

Keith said...

Hey Terence. I agree. I love looking at what men are wearing on the golf course.

Keith said...

Hey Mel. Thanks. Nice hearing from you. All of these men did so much for charity. That's one of the things I admire about them. Oh yeah. I could definitely see playing golf in Palm Springs. I need hear about that biopic. I have no clue who Scorcese will pick. I hope he does a great job with casting. Have a great weekend. Cheers!

Hey Dave. Thanks for the comments. I'm making a little money each month from having the Google Ads between my posts. I guess I would have to have a lot more people visiting my blog to really make much money off of that. It would be cool if there were some ways to make money blogging.

Hey Manofroma. Thanks for the tips. I live in North Carolina. We do have a big tourism industry here. I live closer to our coast. Our beaches are very popular. I appreciate your feedback. Have a nice weekend. Cheers!

Hey Jim. Whatever he's got it's going into Frank's arm. Not sure. lol

Thanks for the tips. I've got Google ads between the posts. I would love to figure out some other ways to make some money with blogging. I do want to build up my traffic. I'm making a few dollars a month with Google, but it would be nice to make more.

I love when celebrities do anything for charity; it really makes me view them in a whole new light.

The economic crisis is horrible right now. As a college student, I find it frightening, since I have so many loans out. I feel that, in the future, it will all pay off, as I'll have a really good career, with, hopefully, enough of an income to pay back all of my student loans. For now, I'm simply trying to cut back on spending; and, of course, looking for odd jobs, in addition to my full-time job, is something I do at times, as well. Just for a little extra expendable cash. :)

Great photo... I love Dino. Such a handsome man.

Looking forward to reading the suggestions you receive! I already like Mondo's suggestion...

Amazing style, and how lovely for them to have done their bit for charity :)

A lot of family friends are going through financial difficulties too, thankfully however we're doing ok :) Everything is a bit tight, but my parents tell me that when things get tight, you have to give more to charity, because there are people out there who are in a worse position. Hope everything is ok with you.

Hi Keith it's so tough in this economy Ive been out of work since jan I finally got an interview with the federal govt in the environmental conservation field. I hope this will be a turn around for me.
My only suggestion for you is to get up every morning and to keep doing what you are doing you are lucky to have a job right now even though it's not exactly what you want. Everyday search the classifieds and ask your contacts and family if they know of any jobs. Also send your resumes into employers that have not even posted job ads because 70% of available jobs are never posted publicly.

Keith said...

Hey Erika. Yeah, I do love it when celebs do charity events and the like. I think it's cool to see these three men together.

Good luck with your situation. My sis just graduated from college. She's working right now. She plans to go to graduate school. I wish you the best with all your future plans.

Keith said...

Hey Gabbi. Thanks. I appreciate it. It is interesting to see what people have to say. Take care. Have a fantastic weekend. Cheers!

Hey Dapper Kid. Thanks. Glad you liked this pic.

I wish you and your family the best. I do think it's important to give to those less fortunate. There's always somebody out there who has it worse than we do. I count my blessings.

Keith said...

Hey Mel. Good luck. I hope you get that job. I wish the best for you. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Thanks for the tips. I'll have to take that to heart. I am definitely glad I've got a job. It might not be what I want to do, but it's a job. I'm happy to be making some sort of living. There are so many much more worse off than I am.

It is really hard right now! I'm sorry it's hit you, as well as so many of my friends. I don't know...my best advice has been to just not give up, you will find something better :)

Have a great weekend hun! XOXO

Keith said...

Hey Liz. Thanks. I appreciate your words of advice. I know I am still lucky compared to so many. I do have a job even if I'm not pleased with everything about it. Take care. It was great hearing from you.

It's so difficult right now...I think we're all just hanging in there and waiting for it to turnaround. In the meantime, we did things like negotiate our rent to a lower amount (the market calls for it) and we're not going out as much to save money...cooking at home, renting movies instead of going out, have friends over to hang out instead of going to bars all the time...
it adds up!

Excellant Site, Keith!
I'm adding your Site to my Link Sections, at both of my Sites.
If you'd like to add Great Glands, & Great Glands X, that'd be fine.
Keep up the great work, & keep your head up - I know where you're coming from.
I'm kind of in the same boat, as it sounds many others are.
Take Care, my friend!

Hi
I wish I had an answer ,an idea somehting to offer.
Mainly just keep on .
Monopoly was invented becasue of the depression.
There are countless stories of those who came up with an idea .
I think the thing to do is to keep your job and believe in the future.
I am also sitting around trying to think of something .
My family has been hit really hard this year but we will keep scratching and dreaming till we get there.
anyway this was my first visit yo your blog.
It is great .
I had a wonderful time.
Happy Trails

Hey Chessa. Thanks for the comments. I think those sound like great ideas. I've been trying to cut back on things. There's a difference between things you need and things you want. The things you want can take a backseat when you don't have the money for them.

Keith said...

Hey Mongo. Thanks. I appreciate that. That sounds great. I'll add your sites to the links of both of mine. Thanks for the tips. I think that's all we can do right now. Keep our head up. Hope you are having a good weekend.

Hey Terry. Thanks for the great advice. I appreciate it. I'll definitely take it to heart. I'm just thankful I've got a job. There are so many that would kill to have the complaints I've got. I'm lucky to have something. I wish you and your family the best. I've got quite a few relatives in some really bad shape right now.

Hi, Keith, I'm bj and glad to meet you. I came over from another blog..already forgot which one..(I'm old, so it's ok to forget ! :O)
I grew up loving Dean Martin and cried like a baby when he died. Never was a Sinatra fan...loved his voice but not his personality. Dean on the other hand, was a kind and sweet, not to mention drop dead good lookin' man. I still miss him.
My husband and I are on Social Security and are doing ok right now. Both retired and have to work hard at stretching those SS checks but, we can at least pay our bills. Hubby is always looking for ways to add to the pot...he is good working with his hands and makes branding irons, freeze brands, knives...he sells quite a few which really helps.
If you can make anything handmade, you could open an Etsy shop on your blog and make a little spending money that way.
Good luck in whatever you do...and God bless.

Hey BJ. Thanks for the comments. It was great to hear from you. It's nice meeting you. I'm a bigger Dean Martin fan than Frank Sinatra, even though I do like Sinatra. I know he's not everybody's cup of tea. My second favorite member of the Rat Pack is Sammy Davis Jr.

I'm glad that you and your husband are able to make it. My grandmother and some of my other relatives are also on Social Security. Like I said I'm getting by. I'm not making enough to really do anything extra, but I'm not struggling to pay my bills either. It would be nice to make some extra money. I had heard of Etsy shops. I've seen them on some other people's blogs. I'll have to check that out. It might be a good idea to try that out. Thanks so much for the tip.

Feel free to stop by my blog anytime you like. I love hearing from people. Cheers!

This is such a great picture - all of them look so happy!
Ah, the economy is just hurting everyoneee. I do hope that you'll be able to find some things on the side to do. Have you ever thought of selling some of your things on Ebay? I do that from time to time, and at this point, everything helps since I'm not working = /
Good luck with your search, Keith!

Keith said...

Hey Allison. Thanks for the comments. It was nice hearing from you. I'm glad you liked this picture. I appreciate the advice you gave me. I have been considering ebay. I'm going to have to look into that. Take care. I wish you the best. Cheers!

yes it's hit australia... i have heard of friends of friends losing their jobs, but it's not so bad here - for now anyway.

i think it's great you have a job, even if you don't like it. all of us have times when our jobs are hard, but the main thing is to be happy, because it's bringing you something you need. you have the right attitude about it, and it's nice you shared that with us all.

thanks for your kind wishes keith, i am better now from the flu. had a really nice long weekend here. hope you have a great week.

Hey Joelyne. Thanks. It was great hearing from you. I hope the economic crisis is alleviated around the world. I am thankful that I've got a job. That's one thing I don't have to worry about. I can count my blessings that I'm not like so many others. Glad that you are over the flu. Take care.

keith,

I don't know what kind of skills you have, but I've done things like change the oil or the brakes on people's cars, odd jobs or day labor to take the shingles off a roof (that is hard work) or haul cinder blocks into a crawl space (better than taking off shingles), mow lawns, clean gutters, wash and detail cars, cut firewood, find things at garage sales for cheap and sell them on eBay... These are just a few things I've done to make a little extra cash. None of them make a lot on their own, but every little bit helps. Best of luck to you.

Keith said...

Hey Robert. Thanks so much. I appreciate the ideas. I have done some of those things in the past either for myself or others. I think I'm going to have to be a jack of all trades. I doubt there is one thing that is going to help me earn much more money. I'm going to need to diversify and do quite a few different things. Thanks again. Cheers!

Hey Keith, I'm trying the Etsy shop thing. If you'd like to try it and need any help, I'll be glad to share what I've learned so far. I've never done ebay personally, but family and friends have. Seems like lots of online folk are really upset at ebay's fees these days. Etsy is really cheap! You can email me if you ever want to.

Keith said...

Hey Tikimama. Thanks a lot. I appreciate it. I'll have to do that. I've heard of it Etsy. I need to check it out. I might definitely have to email you about it. Thanks again.
