John Slattery Is Another Mad Man
I am so thrilled that a new season of Mad Men has started up. I wanted to share these photos (by Nathaniel Goldberg) of John Slattery, who plays ad exec Roger Sterling, from GQ with you. Who watches Mad Men? Who are your favorite characters up there? Are you excited about the new season? Let me know what you think.

P.S. I won the following award awhile back from The Great White Dope, but never posted about it. I thought it was time I did.

Some Random Photos of Frank Sinatra & Friends
Here are some random photos of Frank Sinatra and some of his pallies back in the late 50's to mid-60's. I hope you enjoy them. Cheers!

The Rat Pack together in action.

Dean Martin, Judy Garland & Frank Sinatra are rehearsing in Las Vegas in 1958.

Frank's sitting at his piano in his home. That's a model of his personal jet on top of the piano.

Frank's cracking up after falling out of a chair at a Miami party.

Frank's doing what he does best - perform under the spotlight.

Frank's wiping his face off with a towel.

Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra point down at some other guy's shoe.
P.S. I hope you liked all those photos. I wanted to let you guys know about this poll, "Sinatra & Jay-Z: Two Generations Of Cool," at the website of Madison Square Garden.
Here is the promo information sent to me:

Two BIG musical legends, one BIG CITY, MSG asks: Who sang New York City's true anthem better? Frank Sinatra and Jay-Z both have recorded sensational hits declaring their love for the city that never sleeps. Sinatra's 1980's hit, "New York, New York" still lives in on people's hearts today while Jay-Z's catchy hip-hop tune, "Empire State of Mind," has become the anthem for all celebrated NY sport victories. Jay-Z claims he's "the new Sinatra" in the hit song also, but does the Hoboken-native Frankie still hold the title for the city's anthem. YOU DECIDE who the king of NY is here:
Also, be sure to tune-in on Friday, December 4th @ 10:30 PM when MSG airs two iconic performances. Leading off is Jay-Z’s Answer the Call September 11th performance, followed at 11:30 p.m. by Frank Sinatra: The Main Event, a concert which originally aired live Oct. 13, 1974.

Dean Martin & Shirley MacLaine Have Fun Together, Plus An Award
Dean Martin and Shirley MacLaine are having quite the good time with each other. I'm not exactly sure when or where this was. Any ideas? Whether we know the details or not, it's still a fun picture of two great friends having a good time together.

This photo comes courtesy of my pallie Timmy.
P.S. I was given the Better Than Ice Cream award by my ultra cool sister Stephanie at her very absolutely fabulous blog Chic Femme recently. I want to thank her very much. I'm glad she enjoys what her big brother does her. I know that I really dig her blog. If you haven't checked it out yet, I hope you will do so.

There are so many blogs out there that I think are better than ice cream. I'd love to give this award to everybody, but I am going to set a limit on myself. I'm bestowing this award on the following blogs:

Dean Martin Had An Accident, Plus An Award
I played golf with Dean Martin yesterday. Let's just say I'm not that good at all. I ended up hitting Dino by accident. He rolled down a hill into some trees. Yikes! Now he's confined to bed. I said I'm sorry, but nobody will let me anywhere near him now.

This photo comes courtesy of my pallie Timmy.
P.S. I received the Superior Scribbler Award from the fantastic blog Tights Lover. I appreciate it so much. I am a huge fan of that blog. I hope you'll check it out.

I am tasked with bestowing this award on five blogs. That is so hard to do because there are a lot more than five I would love to honor with such an award. Here are the five I picked though:
Cafe Fashionista
Dapper Kid
La Dolce Vita
Radiator Heaven

Frank Sinatra Is Full Of Tricks, Plus An Award & Random Facts About Me
Frank Sinatra is a man of many talents. Here he is performing a tablecloth trick for his pallies at a Miami hotel in 1964. Wow. It looks like it was some kind of party.
P.S. I was given the Honest Scrap Award by the fascinating blog FilmFather. Thanks so much. I really appreciate it. Anybody willing to post 10 random facts about themselves consider yourself winners of this award.
I've been tagged several times lately to reveal 7 to 10 random facts about myself, including in this latest award. I thought it was time that I sit down and actually share some more about my life. These are actually all things from my childhood and adolescence. I'm posting this to both my blogs today. I hope you enjoy finding out more about me.
1. My first fight in school was in kindergarten. I don't even remember what started it. It was a draw. We both got some good hits in. My parents were told that I was probably going to be a troublemaker and to watch me.
2. My brother and I would dance around our living room listening to the disco records of our parents when we were kids. We both really loved ABBA.
3. I was obsessed with the Six Million Dollar Man and G.I. Joe as a kid.
4. My brother and I played all sorts of things when we were growing up. We would be everything from Batman and Robin to Starsky and Hutch.
5. I can't remember how old I was (maybe 10 or 11), but a friend and I filled a cardboard box up with everything from leaves to trash. We then poured lighter fluid on it and lit it up. It made a huge explosive sound and shot fire up into the air. This was at my grandmother's house. You can imagine she wasn't too happy.
6. I had three operations as a kid for kidney problems.
7. I started wearing eyeglasses in the third grade.
8. When I was in junior high, I let a high school girl that I had a crush on put makeup on me. I thought I looked pretty cool. My parents had a different outlook on it when I got off the bus. They were not amused at all.
9. When I took physical education in eighth grade, our teacher decided to try out some new program. We were allowed to have music playing during the gym class. I was in charge of the tunes.
10. While I'm not sure I believe in reincarnation, I have had what seemed like dreams of past lives from the time I can remember. One dream that I had on a regular basis starting in high school was that I was a Jew living under the rule of the Greeks in ancient times.

Dean Martin & Bing Crosby In Rehearsal, Plus Some Awards
Here's a picture of Dean Martin and Bing Crosby rehearsing for a show in Hollywood in the late 1950's. I'm not sure exactly what this was. Any ideas? It is cool to see Dino hang out with his idol. Plus Dino is looking really cool in this photo.
P.S. My blog has won several awards.
I won the Kreativ Blogger Award from Clare at her blog Clarabelle.
I was honored with the Stylish Blogger Award from Annie over at her blog Loose Leaf Tigers.
I also was bestowed with this Idyllhours Award from Laurel over at her blog HappySimpleLife.
Thanks to my wonderful blogging friends for these awards. I greatly appreciate it. I'm always thrilled to find that others enjoy what I do here. It means a lot. I do need asap to post the information that I'm asked to do for these awards. I wanted to go ahead and mention that I had won these. I've been so busy lately that I sometimes feel like a chicken with their head cut off. lol

Dean Martin & Bing Crosby Celebrate My Blog Winning An Award
Dean Martin and Bing Crosby share a dance to celebrate The Dino Lounge winning an award.

That's right, pallies! The Dino Lounge has been honored with the You are a great read! award by my good pallie Jessica over at her wonderful blog Chronically Vintage. I am so thrilled with receiving this award. I thank Jessica so much for bestowing it upon my blog. I highly recommend her blog. I hope you'll check it out.

I'd love to be able to give this award to all of my blogging friends. You all have incredible blogs that I enjoy checking out and commenting on. It's hard for me to only highlight a select few. You all deserve this award so much. I am limiting myself, however, to only fifteen blogs since that seems to be the standard. I tried to pick an eclectic bunch of winners. If you've never visited these blogs, I hope you will take the time to stop by them. I'm sure you will like them as much as I do.

The Dino Lounge Receives The Dardos Award
My pallie Steve at his blog The Last Picture Show has seen fit to honor The Dino Lounge blog with the Premio Dardos Award. This is the first award this blog has received so I'm really excited about that. It's an added bonus getting it from Steve, since he's got one of my favorite blogs online. I've been learning a lot about the UK from his blog.
The Dardos Awards is given for recognition of cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values transmitted in the form of creative and original writing. These stamps were created with the intention of promoting fraternization between bloggers, a way of showing affection and gratitude for work that adds value to the Web.
1) Accept the award by posting it on your blog along with the name of the person that has granted the award and a link to his/her blog.
2) Pass the award to another five blogs that are worthy of this acknowledgement, remembering to contact each of them to let them know they have been selected for this award.
I'm not sure which of these blogs have already been given this award. I tried to pick different blogs than I did when my Sugar & Spice blog was honored. I hope that at least some of them will decide to continue on the cycle of honoring other blogs they enjoy.
I give this award to:
1. ilovedinomartin - My pallie DMP has such a cool & swingin' blog dedicated to Dean Martin. It's my #1 stop for all things Dino-related. His blog has helped me become an even bigger fan of Dean Martin.
2. Atomic Ranch - Terri has several awesome blogs that she does, including one dedicated to Dean Martin, but I wanted to honor this blog devoted to midcentury living, etc. It really makes me want a pad like those on her blog.
3. Planet Mondo - This is such a fantastic musical blog. I've learned so much about music, such as punk, that I never knew about. I have a rockin' good time checking out the videos, etc. posted.
4. Viewliner Ltd. - If you are looking to see a slice of Americana, then this is the blog for you. There are wonderful pictures posted of vintage planes, trains, automobiles & so much more. It really makes me year for yesteryear.
5. Farbror Sid - I have no clue what's been said on this blog. I think it's in Swedish. It's a blog I enjoy checking out for all the retro ads, babes, cars & much more.
I love all 5 of these blogs. It becomes very hard to pick only 5 since there are so many blogs that I enjoy checking out. I hope you will definitely pay a visit to any of these blogs that you've never been to before. Tell 'em Keith sent ya. :-)
