My Favorite Album Covers: Sammy Davis Jr. - Something For Everyone

This is definitely one of my favorite album covers from Sammy Davis Jr. He looks like a pimp daddy or something. This is one groovy album. Something For Everyone was released by Motown. Many artists of the lounge era were trying to make a transition to this new era. Some had better results than others. Sammy changed his fashion and musical styles during the 1970's. I'm actually a big fan of a lot of what he did during the 70's.

I've also included a clip that features several of the cool tunes from this album. It's about ten minutes long, but I really do hope you'll give it a listen. Sammy does a really hip version of My Way. I'm sure you've never heard this song quite the same way before. I hope you enjoy it.

Great, great cover looks like Sammy's tribute to Electric Ladyland

Hey Dave. Thanks. Glad you liked it. I had forgotten to put the clip in there that I wanted, so I just added it in.

Holy crap, Keith! Thank you so much--I'd never heard of this album--I must have it! Do you know if it's available on CD? I've always like Sammy's music, but I've never been blown away by his music--but that blew me away.

Hey Rev. Thanks. I'm really glad you enjoyed that. I always love turning on people to music. I'm not sure if it's available on CD or not. I don't have a copy of it myself. I haven't seen it around Amazon. I remember my parents had a copy of this album when I was a kid. I always loved it back then.

I mentioned to you before, this is my favorite Sammy LP cover. His version of "Wichita Lineman" simply has to be heard to be believed. This is when Sammy was getting coked up big time and swingin' with Anton LeVay the satanist... a dark and hedonistic time for The Candy Man. Most musicians have their highs and lows, but Mr. Davis was so talented even his lows are a great listen. Cheers!

Hey Gilligan. Thanks for the comments. Yeah, I remember you telling me how much you dig this album. Thanks for the info about Sam. This was definitely during his dark and hedonistic times. Oh yeah. His down periods are still awesome. He's such a talent.

Big part of my childhood recollection -- I inherited this album on vinyl, but sadly it is now gone and man -- too bad. Sometimes hasty decisions are tough.
