Blacula Rises From The Grave

blacula1

Blacula is a blaxplotation horror film released in 1972. William Marshall stars as the title character. In the late 1700's Marshall's character Prince Mamuwalde is transformed by Count Dracula. Two hundred years later, the Prince's coffin finds its way to Los Angeles. There he is released from his slumber and begins to stalk the streets looking for prey. He also falls in love with a woman that looks like the reincarnation of his late wife. While critical reaction has always been negative, the film did enjoy financial success. It has become a cult favorite over the years.

I've included both the movie trailer and a scene from the movie for your viewing pleasure. I hope you enjoy them.

P.S. It has been brought to my attention by someone that he and some others were having trouble reading my blog. He mentioned that it was hard to read the black text on the brown background. I hadn't had anyone say anything to me about this before. I definitely want people to be able to read my blog without any difficulty. So were you guys having any trouble at all? This reader suggested I change the text color to white. I've done that right now. What do you think? Was it easier to read it in black or do you like it in white? If you have any other suggestions for the colors, etc, please let me know. I'm open to recommendations. I want to make my blog a pleasurable experience for everybody to view. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Blacula is one bad blood sucker. Almost watched this the other night, but my guests choose The Ghost and Mr. Chicken instead.

Haha! Blacula! I wonder if this is the character that my brother used to copy. He pretended to be dracula but he kept saying, "Blah! Blah! Blah!"

love Halloween :)

P.S. How funny 'cause my word verification seems to go with the them - EXPRAPOV! (lol)

Looks like a fun movie especially for this time of year. Bracula is also one of my favorite characters on the cartoon Venture Brothers. Fun show!

it's better in white and you could also rise the text measure of the "comments"...meaning text from bottom border ^.^

Hey Keith. I never had any trouble reading your blog, but the white font is more eye catching.

Now, on to one of my favorite guilty pleasures. I LOVE BLACULA! I SCREAM (laughing)every time I watch it (surprisingly, it comes on cable a lot). This is a great post, brings back a lot of memories of popcorn and dark movie houses, with everybody screaming but me. Somehow, I always ended up laughing.

Have a great day, my friend.

You know i think AIP had planned a Blacula Vs Count Yorga film but killed both series after the second film (pretty much the same for Dr Phibes). No wonder AIP went out of business.
I can read your blog just fine, no problems here.
Keep up the good work!

Maggi said...

YES! Blacula rules! lol I didn't have any trouble reading your blog but I guess the white does work better now that I see it! lol

Keith said...

Hey Cheryl Lynn. Thanks. I'm glad the white is more popping. I aim to please. Glad to see you're a fan of Blacula. They do show this movie quite often on tv. I love it. I never get scared really while watching movies. I'm usually get a big smile on my face.

Keith said...

Hey Drake. Thanks for commenting. Glad you like the way the blog looks. That would have been an awesome movie. I never knew about that. I think AIP made a lot of stupid decisions.

I have some fuzzy recollection of this movie...I think I saw it at some point. As far as the text, either way I've been able to read it just fine.

Have a great day!

Erika said...

What an entertaining concept! :)

As for the font...I never had a problem with the black text; but I tend to think that the white text is easier to read - it shows up more. :)

Cocktails said...

Blacula! I've never seen this, but I hear that the soundtrack is good. Is that true?!

White is slightly easier to read for me yes, but I think it is affected sometimes by how you set the colour levels on your computer.

Max Reddick said...

I have fond memories of this movie. When it came out, my older cousins allowed me to attend the movie with them. I was so happy to attend the movies with the big kids. But they thought I would be frightened.

Blacula has got to be the coolest vampire ever. First of all, he is handsome and well-dressed. And what woman can resist that whole exotic vibe he's got going on? I wiah I were as half as cool as Blacula.

clarewbrown said...

Oh wow! I hadn't heard of this. Looks fun haha! And I hadn't had trouble reading your blog before. However it is much easier to read now

Keith said...

Hey Steph. Thanks for commenting. I saw it years ago. I'd like to see it again.

Hey Cocktails. Thanks. I loved the music in this one. I didn't have problems with the black at all. I didn't know anybody else was.

Keith said...

Hey Max. Thanks for commenting. I really appreciate it. Glad you've got such good memories of seeing this movie. That was really cool how you got to see it. Blacula is definitely one cool vampire. I always loved this movie.

Keith said...

Hey Maria. I almost didn't see your comment. Sorry about that. Hope you get to see it.

Hey Clare. Thanks. Glad you could see my blog in whichever color. Hope you get a chance to see this movie.

Jessica Cangiano said...

Hi Keith, that was really thoughtful of you to do. I can't say as though I ever found the black on brown tough to read (had it been on a billboard sign though, I would have as I'm really nearsighted ;D), but now seeing the text in white, I do think it's substantially easier to read. Thank you for making that switch.

♥ Jessica

Keith said...

Hey Jessica. I aim to please my readers. I want to make checking out my blog an enjoyable experience. I wasn't having any problems with reading the text myself so I had no clue anybody out there was having trouble. I do think the white on brown is better though.
