Bud Abbott and Lou Costello did a series of movies in the late 40's into the 50's where they encountered classic monsters from the Universal horror movies. The first movie was Abbott and Costello Meets Frankenstein. They not only run into Frankenstein's Monster in this movie, but also Dracula and The Wolf Man. Future films include Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man (1951) & Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy (1955). I loved watching these movies when I was a kid. Here are some of the movie posters as well as the trailer for Abbott and Costello Meets Frankenstein. Anybody ever seen any of these movies?

I've seen the Frankenstein one and part of the Invisible Man - I flipped to after it started which I hate to do. But I loved the special effects of the Invisible Man vanishing a piece at a time until only his teeth were left and then not even that. Very impressive seeing how it was done without computers.
Hey Jami. Thanks for commenting. That's cool that you've seen some of these. I really enjoyed them. It's been awhile since I've seen them though. I do think there were some great special effects from the time these were done.
I've seen all the Abbott & Costello movies and the monster ones are the best!!
i like at the end of the one where they meet Frankenstein you can hear Vincent Price's voice and he's the Invisible Man. It's a cool little cameo.
I have never seen any of those, although I used to try to stay up all night watching the Halloween scary movies marathon, when living in NC.;) I so enjoy your Halloween theme.;)
Love these Keith - great movies, the one in a haunted house, with a frog in the soup, and a moving candle is classic - and a must see scene is Abbott and Costello moving the (just fainted) invisible man through a revolving door..
i haven't seen these, but i think i will have to now. great post!
hiya, ive never seen these movie versions before but do like the posters!
have a good day

I've never seen any of them, but I LOVE the posters. Somehow I suspect that they might be even better than the films - they kind of say all there is to say about a fun monster movie!

We're going to see A&C meet Frankenstien at a revival-type theater downtown here tomorrow night.

Hmm, obviously need to work on expanding my knowledge in this genre.
I'm very keen to watch these.
So thanks for the tip :)
These sound great. I've never seen anything starring Abbott and Costello before, but my mom adores them. Perhaps I'll have to check these out for Halloween! :)
Years ago some of these films used to hold me in thrall. It was difficult to get hold of them but once we did manage to we sat down with fair anticipation as it begun.
Thanks Dana. Glad to see you're a fan of theirs.

These movies are such darling classics! I remember being allowed to watch them at Halloween when I was quite young because they weren't (too) frightening :)
Hope you're having a fantastic week, Keith!

Hey Carrie. Thanks. Glad you liked the posters. That's cool that I was the first to let you know about these.
Hey Jessica. Thanks. That's cool that you've seen these. I got to watch them when I was a kid because they were considered more funny than spooky. I enjoyed them a lot.
Hi Keith,
Thanks well I hope it will be for good in a few years! I just watch Ocean's Eleven 1960. Now that was cool I says! I just hate when they copy. The remake was ok, but original is original. Don't you think?
By the way thanks, sure not on you ;)!
Those movies must be so fun!!
Many kisses my friend Keith!
You have the best eye!
I am so going to have to see these. I always heard about them, but never saw any of these films. OK bud we are so netflixing these. :)
I LOVE those movies! My 8 year old is constantly begging me to watch them. Guess I should dust the DVD's off and have a mini marathon!
I love The Abbott & Costello movies and especially the comedy/monster ones...
Ya know, I really miss seeing them...
I'm not sure I've seen any of those movies. Maybe, Frankenstein. :)
I used to sit down with dad when he watched his movies. :)
I was so obsessed with their films when I was a little girl and had forgotten about them Keith!!♥ Wonderful post... thank you for sharing!
nice posters!!
I love when you post these awesome movie posters. Can you believe most of them were hand drawn??? Incredible.
Oh and Keith do you watch Mad Men?? I have a feeling that would be like your favorite show ever. I watch it every week and I always think of your blog
This is amazing. I watched all of these movies growing up as a child. I remember laughing with my mother, who loved Abbott and Costello, Jerry Lewis, The Three Stooges, and the like.
Your blog is great. It brings back many a happy memory of years gone by.
Thanks for the nostalgia.
Have a great evening.
Hey Lore. Thanks for commenting. Oh yeah. I much prefer the original Ocean's Eleven over the remake. There's nobody out there quite like the Rat Pack.
Hey Kira. Thanks so much. I'm thrilled that you enjoy the posts I do here. Cheers!
Hey Steph. Thanks for commenting. That's cool that you wanna see these. They are awesome. I'd love to see them again since it's been so long.

Thanks Diana. Cheers!
Hey Clare. Thanks. I'm glad you love these posters. These are amazing. They just don't make posters like this anymore. I do love Mad Men. What a cool show. I plan to post about it up here.
Hey Cheryl Lynn. Thanks for commenting. I'm so happy I could bring back good memories. That's one thing I love about this blog. It helps me remember things from my childhood, plus it helps others do the same. I love all of those comedians you named.
