Sammy Davis Jr. Wants To Play DJ & Do It His Way

Sammy's calling all his pallies up to see if anybody wants to come over and listen to some tunes. I'm up for it. What about you?

sam-tvthebiparty-59

I found this tribute video dedicated to Sammy. What makes this video so awesome is that it features Sammy's hip version of My Way. I'm sure a lot of people have heard Frank Sinatra and/or Elvis Presley perform this song. Sammy goes a totally different route with his rendition of this tune.

Sean Connery Advertises For Louis Vuitton

I'm sure many of you have seen Sean Connery's ads for Louis Vuitton. This is actually the one I usually see when I'm flipping through one of my magazines. This man is amazing at any age.

I found a video that shows the making of the ad campaign. I enjoyed it. I thought I would share it with you all.

James Bond Movie Posters From The Roger Moore Era

The first James Bond movie I ever saw was For Your Eyes Only, which was released in 1981. I saw it at my local drive-in. It was actually the last movie I ever saw there. I loved this movie so much. It was my introduction to the world of 007. I was around 10 when I saw it. I have seen every Bond movie since then at the theater. I would go on to see the previous ones either on television or video. While Sean Connery is my favorite Bond, I'll always have a special place in my heart for Roger Moore. Plus Moore is actually the favorite Bond of both of my siblings. Here are some posters from the seven Bond films that Roger Moore made from 1973 to 1985. Which is your favorite?

I'd love to know what you think of that video. Thanks.

Dean Martin & Frank Sinatra: Nothing But A Good Time!

Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra

This photo is from a show that Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra did at the Resorts International Hotel in Atlantic City on August 24, 1980. It's fantastic to see that even in their older years these hip cats still knew how to to have a good time. Hope you all have a cool and swingin' weekend. Cheers!

Dean Martin & Paul Lynde Are So Hilarious

Here's a photo of Paul Lynde with Elizabeth Montgomery on Bewitched, one of my favorite shows of the 60's.

I grew up as a huge fan of Paul Lynde. I always found him to be so hilarious. I remember seeing him on everything from Bewitched to Hollywood Squares. There's also that awesome Halloween special he did in the mid-70's. Paul appeared on Dean Martin's show. Here are some really funny clips featuring Paul and Dino. I hope you enjoy them.

Your Favorite Member Of The Rat Pack Is!?!

I wanted to thank everybody who voted in the poll. This is the first time I've ever done a poll on this blog. I think it was a smashing success.

DinoOceans-fromtimmy

And the winner is!?!

Of course, Dean Martin! Dean Martin had 68 votes. I was thinking that he probably would win this poll, but I actually thought it might be closer than it turned out to be. Wow. That is so awesome. It definitely shows he's the King of Cool.

DinoMatt-fromtimmy

Frank Sinatra came in second place with 26 votes.

sinatra

Sammy Davis Jr. came in third with 17 votes.

sam3

Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford rounded out the list. I hate to admit it, but I wasn't sure if anybody at all would vote for either one of them.

Peter Lawford had only two votes.

Lawford, Peter_02

Poor Joey Bishop came in last place. He had only one vote.

Joey Bishop

The results were in the order that I thought they might end up in. I figured Dino and Frank would take the top two spots. I did think it would be more neck and neck than it was. Dino blew away the competition. I was pretty much Sammy would be in third place. It doesn't surprise me that Joey and Peter barely even registered in this poll.

Thanks again for voting. I really appreciate it.

The photos of the Rat Pack and Dean Martin come courtesy of my pallie Timmy.

James Bond Is On Her Majesty's Secret Service

06-On-Her-Majestys-Secret-Service-1969

One of my favorite James Bond films of all time is On Her Majesty's Secret Service from 1969. This is the only film to star George Lazenby as 007. I actually think he held up pretty well under the unenviable task of stepping into Sean Connery's shoes as Bond. The film also features one of my favorite Bond girls in Diana Rigg as Tracy. I could see why Bond fell in love with her. Critics and fans tend to still be divided on Lazenby as Bond and the film itself. I think it's a shame he never played Bond again. For those who have seen this film, what do you think of it? What do you think of Lazenby as Bond?

Here is the title sequence for the film. I love the theme song for the movie. It's instrumental which is quite the departure from the rest of the franchise.

Here's a video someone made featuring We Have All The Time In The World by Louis Armstrong, which is the love theme of the movie. This is such a beautiful song.

P.S. Thanks everybody for visiting my sister's blog Chic Femme. She is so thrilled with all the great response she's gotten. She's been checking out many of your blogs as well. I'm not exactly sure when or where this was, but it's still a cool picture of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. & Dean Martin. I'm not sure who that other guy is. Frank looks to be in a good mood. It looks like Sammy is saying something to Dino.

Who Is Your Favorite Member Of The Rat Pack?

Here's a really cool picture of the Rat Pack. These hip cats are so stylish. They look to be having a good time chatting with each other, while enjoying some drinks and cigarettes. I so wish I could go back to this era.

Sammy Davis Jr. Goes To Washington

Here's a picture of Sammy Davis Jr. at a party in Washington, D.C. in 1964. Sammy was very involved in politics, fighting for civil rights for all Americans. He also was a supporter of other causes as well. I wish I could have been at this party. He definitely had to be a star attraction there.

Pretty Wings By Maxwell: Music For Making Love, Plus I'm Now On Twitter

maxwell

I'm sure all of us can think of some beautiful music to play for a romantic night with our significant other. Marvin Gaye and Barry White are just two that pop to the top of my head, but there are plenty of others as well. If you are looking for a contemporary singer, it doesn't get much better than Maxwell.
BLACKsummers'night is the first album by Maxwell in 8 years. It's been a long wait, but definitely well worth it. The single Pretty Wings is such a wonderful song. I'm posting the video here. I hope you enjoy it.

Dean Martin Moonlights At The Casino, Plus I Need Your Advice

dino-dealer-vegas1158

I love this picture of Dean Martin working the roulette wheel at the casino. I had goofed up and originally posted that he was dealing cards. It shows how much I was paying attention. Either that or I need new glasses. lol Could you imagine being one of the people playing at this table? That would have been so cool. Dino was actually a card shark at one time in his youth.

I'll be taking Monday, September 7th, which is Labor Day here in the United States off from the blog. I wish all my fellow Americans a great holiday weekend. I'll be back here on Tuesday, September 8th. I wish everybody a safe and fun weekend. Any plans for the weekend?

P.S. I'm seeking some advice. It's got to do with PayPal. I've got an account with them. I've used it to buy things. I've got a donate button on this blog. I've had some people throw me a few dollars here and there as a tip. I was curious though about using PayPal as a method of payment if I started selling products. I had mentioned before that I'm considering making some items and selling them. I thought about trying it out without getting involved with anything like Etsy or eBay. I need to figure out what I'm going to sell. Plus I'll have to figure up a price point and my shipping costs. I was wondering though how easy it was to use PayPay to have people pay you for your products. I wasn't sure if you had to set up some special account with PayPal or could use your current account. Plus I'm not quite sure yet how to go about all of it. Any ideas at all? I would greatly appreciate it. If you would rather talk about such matters in email, please feel free to email me. You can leave a comment here at the blog about the Dean Martin photo and correspond with me by email about my questions. Or if you would rather go ahead and offer your insights here, then that's cool by me too. It's up to you. Thanks so much.

I Want To Be A Matador In Another Life

Bull Fight in Mexico

I know it's not politically correct, but I've always been interested in matadors and bullfighting. When I was growing up, we had paintings in our home featuring matadors in action. I was always mesmerized by that artwork. I really wanted to be able to attend a bullfight some day.

Bullfighting is popular in Spain, Portugal, Latin America, parts of France and Turkey, etc. I know there is a lot of debate and controversy over bullfighting. Supporters see it as a cultural tradition that should be honored, while opponents see it as a barbaric blood sport. There are people on both sides of the issue even within countries where bullfighting takes place. King Juan Carlos of Spain and especially his daughter, Princess Elena, are fans of the sport, while Queen Sophia detests bullfighting.

We can trace bullfighting in some form all the way back to ancient times. The sport as we know it developed in the 18th and 19th centuries. It always seemed to have supporters and opponents throughout the years. Sometimes it was outright banned, while other times it was embraced. It was very popular during the Franco era in Spain. Many thought it might decline after the end of the Franco government, but it continues to remain a draw today. The current government of Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriquez Zapatero though is opposed to bullfighting and has placed some restrictions on it.

I wasn't sure if I should post some pictures of matadors here or not. I knew that there were probably readers who fall on both sides of this issue. Please feel free to share your opinions on bullfighting. You aren't going to hurt my feelings if you disagree with me. I'm sure there are plenty who do.

Between the matador art in my childhood home and reading too much Ernest Hemingway, I've come to find bullfighting to be very fascinating and alluring. There is something timeless and romantic about the idea of the matador and this artistic dance to the death with the bull. I still would love to attend a bullfight. In another lifetime, I think it would have been cool to have actually been a matador.

Here are some pictures of Spanish matadors in the late 1960's. I did try not to post anything too graphic, but there are a couple of pictures that might offend some people. I apologize beforehand.
