Abbott & Costello Meet Lots Of Monsters

Bud Abbott and Lou Costello did a series of movies in the late 40's into the 50's where they encountered classic monsters from the Universal horror movies. The first movie was Abbott and Costello Meets Frankenstein. They not only run into Frankenstein's Monster in this movie, but also Dracula and The Wolf Man. Future films include Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man (1951) & Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy (1955). I loved watching these movies when I was a kid. Here are some of the movie posters as well as the trailer for Abbott and Costello Meets Frankenstein. Anybody ever seen any of these movies?

I've seen the Frankenstein one and part of the Invisible Man - I flipped to after it started which I hate to do. But I loved the special effects of the Invisible Man vanishing a piece at a time until only his teeth were left and then not even that. Very impressive seeing how it was done without computers.

Hey Jami. Thanks for commenting. That's cool that you've seen some of these. I really enjoyed them. It's been awhile since I've seen them though. I do think there were some great special effects from the time these were done.

I've seen all the Abbott & Costello movies and the monster ones are the best!!

i like at the end of the one where they meet Frankenstein you can hear Vincent Price's voice and he's the Invisible Man. It's a cool little cameo.

I have never seen any of those, although I used to try to stay up all night watching the Halloween scary movies marathon, when living in NC.;) I so enjoy your Halloween theme.;)

Love these Keith - great movies, the one in a haunted house, with a frog in the soup, and a moving candle is classic - and a must see scene is Abbott and Costello moving the (just fainted) invisible man through a revolving door..

I've never seen any of them, but I LOVE the posters. Somehow I suspect that they might be even better than the films - they kind of say all there is to say about a fun monster movie!

These movies are such darling classics! I remember being allowed to watch them at Halloween when I was quite young because they weren't (too) frightening :)

Hope you're having a fantastic week, Keith!

Hi Keith,

Thanks well I hope it will be for good in a few years! I just watch Ocean's Eleven 1960. Now that was cool I says! I just hate when they copy. The remake was ok, but original is original. Don't you think?
By the way thanks, sure not on you ;)!

Oh and Keith do you watch Mad Men?? I have a feeling that would be like your favorite show ever. I watch it every week and I always think of your blog

This is amazing. I watched all of these movies growing up as a child. I remember laughing with my mother, who loved Abbott and Costello, Jerry Lewis, The Three Stooges, and the like.

Your blog is great. It brings back many a happy memory of years gone by.

Thanks for the nostalgia.

Have a great evening.

Keith said...

Hey Lore. Thanks for commenting. Oh yeah. I much prefer the original Ocean's Eleven over the remake. There's nobody out there quite like the Rat Pack.
